Robust model rankings of forecasting performance

This paper investigates robust model rankings in out‐of‐sample, short‐horizon forecasting. We provide strong evidence that rolling window averaging consistently produces robust model rankings while improving the forecasting performance of both individual models and model averaging. The rolling window averaging outperforms the (ex post) “optimal” window forecasts in more than 50% of the times across all rolling windows.     

Differential binding of conA and WGA on the cell surface, the role of sialic acid in their expression and the increased activity of sialidase after cis-Platin treatment

It is reported that concanavalin A (conA) and wheat germ agglutinin (WGA) have a differential binding pattern on normal mouse spleen lymphocytes and the surface of Dalton's lymphoma cells. It is suggested that sialic acid on the cell surface controls the expression of lectin binding sites. Further, it has been observed that the increased release of sialic acid from cell surfaces after cis-dichlorodiammine platinum (II) (cis-Platin) treatment is due to the increased activity of sialidase.

Variation in the lactase dehydrogenase activity of the esophagus

Summary Quantitative assay and electrophroetic study of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) from various tissues of the opossum esophagus were performed. On the basis of expression of the LDH isozymes, we concluded that the smooth muscle of the body of the esophagus carry on more anaerobic glycolysis than the striated muscle. The smooth muscle of the gastroesophageal junction carry on both anaerobic as well aerobic glycolysis.Acknowledgments. Effect of sodium butyrate in combination with X0irradiation,chemotherapeutic and cyclic AMP stimulating agents on neuroblastoma cells in culture

Summary Sodium butyrate, X-irradiation, chemotherapeutic agents and cyclic AMP-stimulating agents caused reduction in the cell number (due to cell death and reduction in cell division) when added individually to mouse neuroblastoma cells in culture. However, the combination of sodium butyrate with X-irradiation, chemotherapeutic and cyclic AMP-stimulating agents produced a greater reduction in the cell number than that produced by the individual agents.     

Radioprotective effect of isopentenyladenosine in mice

Zusammenfassung (iPA) bewirkt bei Mäusen, die mit einer letalen Ganzkörperdosis bestrahlt wurden, einen Schutzeffekt. Diese Verlängerung der mittleren Überlebenszeit wird mit einer Dosierung von 0,01 bis 0,05 µg/g Körpergewicht erreicht.
