Variation-difference method for solving boundary value problems for linear elliptic complex equations

This paper deals with boundary value problems for linear uniformly elliptic systems. First the general linear uniformly elliptic system of the first order equations is reduced to complex form, and then the compound boundary value problem for the complex equations of the first order is discussed. The approximate solutions of the boundary value problem are found by the variation-difference method, and the error estimates for the approximate solutions are derived.Finally the approximate method of the oblique derivative problem for linear uniformly elliptic equations of the second or der is introduced.     

Qualitative analysis of a strongly coupled prey-predator model

This paper investigates a strongly coupled reaction-diffusion model with Holling-II reaction function in a bounded domain with homogeneous Neumann boundary condition. The sufficient condition for the existence and non-existence of the non-constant positive solutions are obtained. Moreover, we prove that the nonlinear diffusion terms can create non-constant positive equilibrium solutions when the corresponding model without nonlinear diffusion term fails.     

Shock solution for a class of nonlinear elliptic equation

The boundary value problem for the nonlinear elliptic equation is considered. The outer solution for the original problem is obtained. The boundary and interior layer correction terms are constructed by introducing stretched variables and setting local coordinate systems near the boundary and interior discontinuous point of outer solution. Under suitable conditions, using the differential inequalities and the mean value theorem, the existence of the shock solution for boundary value problem is proved and the asymptotic behavior of the solution is studied.     

Reaction diffusion equations for nonlinear boundary conditions

A class of singularly perturbed initial boundary value problems of reaction diffusion equations for nonlinear boundary conditions is considered.Under suitable conditions,by using the theory of differential inequalities,the existence and asymptotic behavior of solution for initial boundary value problem are studied.Moreover,the obtained solution indicates that there are initial and boundary layers,and the thickness of the initial layer is less than that of the boundary layer.     

Boundary Perturbed Problem for Reaction Diffusion Time Delay Equation with Two Parameters

The singular perturbation problem for reaction diffusion time delay equation with boundary perturbation is considered. Firstly, the outer solution for the initial boundary value problem is constructed. Then, the initial and boundary layer correction terms are obtained using the stretched variables transforms. Finally, the asymptotic behavior of solution for the initial boundary value problem is studied.

Reconsideration on Homogeneous Quadratic Riemann Boundary Value Problem

The homogeneous quadratic Riemann boundary value problem (1) with Hoelder continuous coefficients for the normal case was considered by the author in 1997. But the solutions obtained there are incomplete. Here its general method of solution is obtained.     

Asymptotic behavior of solutions for the one-dimensional drift-diffusion model in the quarter plane

In this paper, we study the classical drift-diffusion model arising from the semiconductor device simulation, which is the simplest macroscopic model describing the dynamics of the electron and the hole. We prove the global existence of strong solutions for the initial boundary value problem in the quarter plane. In particular, we show that in large time, these solutions tend to the nonlinear diffusion wave which is different from the steady state, at an algebraic time-decay rate. As far as we know, this is the first result about the nonlinear diffusion wave phenomena of the solutions for the one-dimensional drift-diffusion model in the quarter plane.     

The Existence of Positive Bounded Entire Solutions of Second Order Quasilinear Elliptic Equations

In this paper we are concerned with the existence of positive entire solutions of second order quasilinear elliptic equations of the type div(|Du|p-2Du)+f(x,u)=0, x∈RN, (1) where f(x, u) is a continuous function on RN×(0,∞). This problem appears in the study of non-Newtonian fluids and non-Newtonian filtration. The quantity p is a characteristic of the madium. Media with p>2 are called dilatant fluids and those with p<2 are called pseudoplastics. If p=2, they are Newtonian fluid. In the present paper we give new sufficient conditions which ensure the existence of positive entire solutions of (1).When p=2, the related results have been obtained by [1,2]. Our theorem for existence complement and extent to the results by [1,2].     

Existence of Young measure solutions of a class of singular diffusion equations

The first initial-boundary value problem of a class of singular diffusion equations with the flux sublinear growth and the potential without convexity is investigated. Such equations may be strongly degenerate, singular and forward-backward. Inspired by the idea in a recent work of Demoulini, we first discuss the regular case by introducing the Young measure solutions and prove the existence of such solutions. Consequently, we approximate the extreme case by the method of regularization. By means of some uniform estimates and some techniques, the existence of Young measure solutions with bounded variation is established.
