翻译不仅仅是跨语言的交际活动，更是跨文化的交际活动。中西文化在诸多方面存在着很大的差异，因此，懂得如何避免文化冲突，消除文化障碍，关乎英汉互译的成败。本文就中西文化在价值观、思维模式和宗教习俗等方面的差异及其对英汉互译的影响进行了探讨。

On the Cultural Differences Between China and the West and Their Implications for E-C Intertranslation

Translation is not so much a cross-lingual communicational activity as a cross-cultural communicational activity. Chinese culture and the western culture have differences in many ways, therefore, it is crucial for the success of a translation between Chinese and English to to know how to avoid cultural clash and to get rid of cultural obstacles. The thesis explores differences between Chinese culture and the western euhure in social values, thinking ways and religious customes and their impact on translation between the two languages.
