| Abstract: | For knowledge acquisition during the development of an expert system, if textual knowledge is seriously inadequate, it will be more important to acquire the knowledge automatically. Based on the requirements on real-time diagnostic expert systems, a strategy for domain expert-oriented automatic knowledge acquisition is presented. According to the hierarchy of the structure, function and fault in a complicated system, a domain expert is guided to demonstrate his empirical knowledge of diagnostic object comprehensively. Intermediate representations are formed by three different means for the domain expert to describe his em- pirical knowledge,namely,covering knowledge .correlated knowledge and weighting knowledge. Then formal representation of knowledge,for example, rules, frames, etc. , are generated and edited. The modular structure and procedure of knowledge acquisition as well as the course of knowledge acquisition are proposed. |
