| Abstract: | The paper reports the karyotype of Vitex negundo L. var. heterophylla (Franch.) Rehd. for the first time. Its somatic chromosome number is 2n=34, all with median and submedian Constrictions. The karyotype analysis shows that the karyotype formula is 2n=2x=34=32m(2SAT)+2sm. Chromosome 10 has a satellite in its short arm. The karyotype belongs to "1A" type of Stebbins' karyotype symmetry and is generally regarded as more primitive. |
