An Investigation on Water Transmission Through Two - layer Knitted Fabrics

The aim of this paper is to investigate water transmission properties of two - layer weft knitted fabrics and some related factors. The author prepared some experimental fabrics with specific yarns and stitch densities, and measured water vapor permeating rate through the fabrics and liquid water transferability from inner to outer layer. Results show that the permeating rate is closely related to porosity within fabric while the transferability depends mainly upon the water absorbabilities of fibers on two layers and the degree of their difference.
