The development of energy conservation and environmental protection industry, is significant for enhancing economic strength, technology strength, urban comprehensive competitiveness, is the strategic choice to optimize industrial structure and change the mode of economic growth. Using input-output analysis, the paper studies the impact of energy conservation and environmental pro- tection on the national economy in Shanghai, including the analysis of backward and forward linkage effects of energy conservation and environmental protection to other industries, which reveals the intrinsic impact and mechanism of the relationship between energy con- servation and environmental protection industry in Shanghai and national economy.
