长期以来,无论学界中人还是普通百姓,谈到甲午海战大都将矛头指向北洋海军腐朽.但“北洋海军腐朽说”由于佐证材料的不充分,并不能被认定为甲午海战失败的根源.甲午海战失败的真正根源应该是封建皇权专制与近代海军发展不相适应.

Research on root of defeat of Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 from an international perspective

Both scholar and ordinary people have long believed the decay of the Beiyang Navy is the reason of the defeat of Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. But for the lack of sufficient evidence, the theory of “decadent Beiyang Navy” cannot be regarded as the root of the defeat of Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895. The real root of Sino-Japanese War of 1894-1895 is the incompatible relation between the feudal imperial autocracy and the development of contemporary navy.
