Abstract:The nano-Pt/GC electrode and the nano-Pt-WO 3/GC electrode prepared by electrochemical cyclic voltammetry and constant potential deposition techniques respectively, have been applied to the electrocalalytic oxidation of ethanol. The results show that the two electrodes both exhibit the high electro-catalytic activity, and the nano-Pt-WO 3/GC electrode is higher than nano_Pt/GC.The apparent current density of nano-Pt-WO 3/GC electrode is ca. 10 times higher than the nano-Pt/GC electrode; the mass current density of nano-Pt/GC electrode is ca.5 orders of magnitude higher than the Pt electrode. The origin of various peaks in relation to the oxidation of ethanol species is also explained.
