Characteristics of the Image Compression Using Transforms |

| Abstract: | Transforms have played a key role in image compression. This paper analyzes the characteristics of the transform-based image compression methods, including Fourier transform (FT), short time Fourier transform (STFT), discrete cosine transform (DCT) and wavelet transform (WT). Because these methods can use a small number of expansion coefficients to represent the original image, they have been successful in image compression field. They are the effective tools in this field. |
