相背与相向—论周作人与成仿吾对文学艺术性追求的坚持

在20世纪二三十年代的中国文坛，周作人与成仿吾似乎有着完全不同的艺术追求。在文学的内容与形式表达上，周作人由人生关注转向艺术园地，成仿吾则由艺术之“美”走向人生之“善”之“真”；在文艺的表现自我上，周作人由社会大我而一己小我，成仿吾则由小我而转向大我：两人相背而走，殊途亦不同归。而且在追求道路上，两人好像作了一个方向上的置换，似乎是对自己前期选择的一种背弃。然而，深入表象下的本质，我们发现的是他们对艺术追求的坚持。

Zhou Zuo-ren and Cheng Fang-wu had totally different art pursuit in Chinese literary world in the 1920s and 1930s.Seen from the content and formal expression of literature,Zhou Zuo-ren had changed his direction from life concern to the art field,while Cheng Fang-wu had changed from the "beauty" of art to human "goodness" and "truth".As to the self-expression function of literature and art,Zhou Zuo-ren had turned his focus from social problems to himself,but Cheng Fang-wu had turned from human nature to social problems.They seemed to be going in opposite directions,along different paths and with different goal.In their pursuit,the two seemed to have made a displacement,which seemed to have made them go back from their early choices.However,what we discover underneath all these appearances is the same persistence they had in their art pursuit,which is the essence of the matter.
