交际法在英语语法教学中的应用

How to teach English grammar effectively is an important subject of the comprehensive course for English majors. The Communicative approach must be applied to the English grammar teaching. This paper illustrates the features of communicative grammar teaching and necessity of applying communicative approach to English Grammar Teaching and how to apply communicative approach to English Grammar Teaching. In classroom teaching, a variety of communicative situations should be created without dull teaching; a colorful of classroom activities should be designed; real situation communicative practices should be intensified to make English grammar teaching active and efficient.     

A Comparative Study of Grammar Teaching in the Grammar-Translation, Audio-Lingual and Communicative Approaches

Recent years have seen a resurgence of interest in the role of grammar in English language teaching. Grammar teaching has become a preoccupation among more and more language researchers and teachers. This paper sets out to compare the views of grammar teaching in the Grammar-Translation, Audio-Lingual and Communicative Approaches from the following five points, the status of grammar teaching, the different methods in the instruction of grammar, the teacher’s role in grammar teaching, the characteristics of typical teaching activities in the three approaches with detailed examples and the effect of the three approaches to grammar teaching.It is concluded that grammar teaching should subscribe to an eclectic approach, that is, to take advantage of the strong points of each approach and avoid their weak points. Moreover, grammar teaching should be conducted according to the variables of learners and teaching circumstances.     

The Necessity of Teaching Oral Skills in the Classroom

Today teaching oral communicative skills has gradually become an acknowledged approach in China.As English teachers,we should create a spoken English learning environment and encourage students to practice more.This paper advances the necessity of oral skills teaching in the classroom.While teaching,we should be aware of the cultural differences between the east and the west and find appropriate methods to engage learners in appropriate conversations.Then we can achieve the final purpose of teaching the target language.     

Cultivation of EFL Learners’Intercultural Competence

Nowadays, educators from home and abroad believe that learning a foreign language means learning a great deal of the foreign civilization and culture. And the utmost goal of language teaching is to cultivate EFL learners’communicative competence, but not merely the linguistic knowledge. This paper proposes some effective teaching techniques and methods that can be applied in English classroom to cultivate Chinese EFL learners’intercultural competence.     

CLT and College English Teaching Context in China: How Could They Collaborate with Each Other

This article reports the background and the tenets of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) at first.Then the writer attempts to answer the question in title by analyzing the college English teaching context in China and the purpose for teaching and learning English in colleges and universities are more explored.Next it summarizes the barriers CLT would face and delineates the advantages and disadvantages of communicative approach in the College English Teaching Context in China.     

Is It Practical to Adopt Communicative Language Teaching in China

This paper is aimed to discuss the present state of grammar teaching in China and the negative effets it causes upon EFL teaching,then introduce the four alternative strate gies of communicative approach to improve grammar teaching and learning.     

ESP/EST in Theory and Practice

Two developments in the methodology of English teaching have been seen. One is the transition from ELT(English Language Teaching) to ESP(English for Special Purposes)teaching. The other is the transition from linguistic forms and syntactic structures to communicative activities. This essay discusses the classification of ESP/EST, argues for the purpose of ESP/EST teaching and GPE(General Purpose English)teaching. It is then suggested that the characteristics of objectives between ESP/EST and GPE should be differentiated. In the second part, the essay takes as its starting point two kinds of EST courses offered in institutions of higher learning in China. One has the nature of in-service language teaching. The other deals with the EST-majoring programme. The essay seeks to identify what are the main features of the EST-majoring programme, and stresses its practical nature of training and the concern with the learners' communicative competence.

Effective and appropriate teaching strategies can improve students' interests in learning English and enhance interaction between the teacher and students.
