No evidence for illegitimate young in monogamous and polygynous warblers   总被引:8,自引:0,他引:8

In animals with internal fertilization, paternity is uncertain. In birds, the occurrence of copulations outside the pair-bond has been documented in a number of species, but the extent to which these result in illegitimate young is largely unknown, and constitutes a major deficiency in our understanding of avian mating systems. The analysis of tandemly repeated sequences (minisatellites), has enhanced our ability to make individual identifications and paternity determinations. Here we describe the use of a bird minisatellite DNA probe in assigning paternity in natural populations of the monogamous willow warbler Phylloscopus trochilus and of the polygynous wood warbler Phylloscopus sibilatrix. In both species this probe detects a multiple locus pattern and a single locus that exhibits a variable number of tandem repeats. Although we observed intrusions by non-resident males into the territories of paired males and extra-pair copulations, no illegitimate offspring were detected among 176 young from 32 families of both species, implying that extra-pair copulations have little or no genetic impact.  相似文献

运用聚丙烯酰胺凝胶电泳,测试了采自四川南川县金佛山不同生境的多辐溲疏5个居群50株个体的过氧化物酶同工酶,对酶谱带位置进行了二态编码,然后采用Rogers-Tanimoto,Sokal-Mich-ener,Sokal-Sneath,Jaccard等结合系数用组平均法(UPGMA)对各谱带位置进行了聚类分析.结果表明,相同生境同一居群内的个体间表现出较大的遗传同质性,而来源于不同生境的不同居群个体间却呈现出较大的遗传趋异性;同时,5个居群不但具有许多共同谱带,而且整体相聚的结合系数大多超过0.5,这表明5个居群在很早以前可能是属于同一大居群,在长期进化过程中,由于微生境的地理与气候因子选择,使得多辐溲疏现仅在金佛山海拔600~1200m的约km2范围内呈岛状分布;又由于其特殊的繁殖方式——居群内个体虽能杂交,但因该种仅能正常开花传粉,大部分种子败育,使得居群内个体遗传变异性不能通过有性生殖方式固定下来,仅能通过营养繁殖方式繁殖后代,而正是营养繁殖导致了居群内较大遗传同质性以及居群间的遗传趋异性.在整个进化过程中生境只不过是对那些遗传变异起到了选择固定作用  相似文献

运用同工酶电泳技术,测定了来自不同地理种源和不同演替群落的四川大头茶(Gordonia acuminata(pritz)Chang)8个居群112株个体功能叶片的过氧化物酶(POD),细胞色素氧化酶(CYT)的同工酶谱带,并进行编码;然后采用Rogers-Tanimoto结合系的组平均法(UPGMA)对各酶谱带进行聚类分析;结果表明:来自不同演替群落的四川大头茶居群及个体间存在着极明显的同工酶变异和遗传分化,来自相同演替群落的居群及个体间存在着极大的同工酶谱相似性和遗传相似性;环境因子在四川大头茶居群遗传分化过程中起着非常重要的作用;但不同的环境因子在不同居群的同工酶谱和遗传分化中所起的作用不同;群落演替类型对四川大头茶的同工酶谱和遗传分化起着重要作用的同时,地理种源却对该物种的同工酶谱和遗传分化影响不大。  相似文献

采用聚丙烯酰胺凝胶垂直平板电泳检测了重庆缙云山特有植物缙云黄芩 (ScutellariatsinyunensisC Y WuetS chow) 7个居群 70个个体的过氧化物酶 (POD)、细胞色素氧化酶 (CYT)、超氧化物歧化酶 (SOD)、淀粉酶 (AMY)和酯酶 (ES) 5种等位酶谱带的变异式样 .并将所得酶谱带进行编码 ,然后分别用Jaccard和Sokal Michener结合系数结合不加权组平均法 (UPGMA)进行聚类 .7个居群等位酶谱带分布表明 ,只有 15 5 6 %的等位酶谱带在所有个体中是恒定的 ,其余 84 44 %的等位酶谱带在个体间显示出或多或少的变异 .在居群水平上 ,也只有 2 2 2 2 %的等位酶谱带是恒定的 ,77 78%的等位酶谱带存在有分化 .聚类分析结果表明缙云黄芩同一居群的个体间在等位酶谱带上表现出很大的相似性 ,即居群内个体间表现出较大的遗传同质性 ;而来源于不同居群的个体酶谱则表现出明显的趋异性 ,显示出缙云黄芩不同居群之间发生了较明显的遗传分化  相似文献

标准遗传算法存在易于早熟,容易陷入局部最优的缺点,同时标准多种群遗传算法存在进化后期种群同质化严重的缺陷。针对这一问题,将聚类思想引入到多种群遗传算法的子种群划分中,提出了一种使用聚类方式划分子种群的多种群遗传算法,使得种群划分不再只是单纯的随机行为,而是将满足约束条件的个体根据其特征划分到不同子种群中,从而解决种群同质化问题,避免所有子种群陷入局部最优。最后,通过测试两个典型函数,验证了该算法的有效性,为多种群遗传算法提供了一种新的研究方向。  相似文献

Male tigers(Panthera tigris altaica) in captivity copulate alternatively with an estrous female,suggesting a potential for heteropaternity as an effective reproductive strategy to maximize genetic diversity of offspring.We analyzed microsatellites to test and compare the genetic output of multiple male mating(simultaneous polyandry) and single male mating(monogamy) with a female in a captive population.Simultaneous polyandry resulted in heteropaternity in 66.7% observed litters.No significant differences between parental populations and between offspring populations were detected in the number of alleles(A),expected heterozygosity(H e),number of effective alleles(N e) per locus and standard individual heterozygosity(SH)(P>0.05 for all 4 indexes).Comparisons showed no significant reduction of A,H o,H e and SH from parental population to offspring population for the two mating modes(P>0.05) except for SH in polyandrous families(P=0.029).However,such reduction was equivalent to single mating families when the influence of relatedness was eliminated using effective SH(E SH)(P>0.05).These results highlight an alternative strategy for managing captive populations of tiger and other wild felids in which animals are combined at one location allowing for copulation by multiple males to encourage heteropaternity in favor of maintained genetic diversity among offspring.  相似文献

Restriction fragment profiles generated by hybridization of hypervariable minisatellite DNA probes have been used for paternity analysis but not for comparisons at the level of populations, because the profiles are thought to evolve too rapidly to be informative over large time intervals. But in small isolated populations, the fixation of restriction-fragment polymorphisms can outpace the generation of fragment-length variability through recombination. Here we report on an analysis of DNA fingerprints of the California Channel Island fox (Urocyon littoralis). These foxes comprise an island dwarf species found only on six of the Channel Islands off the coast of southern California. Variability of restriction-fragment profiles within fox populations, as indicated by the average percentage difference (APD), varied widely among the islands, from 0.0% (no variation) to 25.3%. The APDs between populations were considerably greater (43.8% to 84.4%). In addition, foxes on each island can be distinguished by the presence of diagnostic restriction fragments. Maximum parsimony and phenetic trees relating foxes from different islands are consistent with the archaeozoological and geological record. Therefore, in small populations of genetically isolated mammals, differences among hypervariable restriction-fragment profiles can be used to estimate relative genetic variability and to reconstruct the evolutionary relationships of natural populations.  相似文献

选取了云南省11州市主要烟区的6个烟田种群、13个工厂繁育种群以及1个野生种群,基于线粒体atp6、cox1、cob和nad2 4个蛋白质编码基因开展了种群遗传多样性研究.解析云南省主要烟区烟田烟蚜茧蜂种群的遗传多样性特点,为烟蚜茧蜂的科学释放和蜂种复壮提供理论依据.结果发现,在105个个体中共检测到158个多态性位点和4种单倍型;20个种群中只有8个,具有遗传多样性,核苷酸多样性在0.000 46~0.008 08之间;除了保山的工厂繁育种群和普洱的野生种群与其他种群的遗传分化系数较大外,各地烟田和工厂繁育种群之间无明显分化.可见,云南省主要烟区烟田的烟蚜茧蜂种群遗传多样性较低,且与工厂繁育种群的遗传背景高度一致,在一定程度上说明了人工释放的烟蚜茧蜂能够在烟田有效定殖,但目前大规模繁育和释放的烟蚜茧蜂种群遗传多样性水平较低,可能存在种群衰退的风险,导致烟蚜茧蜂田间控害能力下降,应及时引入野生种群对工厂繁育种群进行合理复壮.  相似文献

Part of the 16S rRNA gene is amplified with PCR and sequenced for 5 populations of common Chinese cuttlefish Sepiella maindroni:three from the South China Sea,one from East China Sea and one from Japan.The result shows that a total of 5 nucleotide positions are found to have gaps or insertions of base pairs among these individuals,and 13 positions are examined to be variable in all the sequences,which range from 494 to 509 base pairs.All of the individuals are grouped into 7 haplotypes (h1-h7).No marked genetic difference is osberved among those populations.All of the individuals from Nagasaki belong to h1 and the h3 haplotype is found only in the coastal waters of China.A→←G transition in Nucleotide 255 is suggested to be taken as a kind of genetic marker to identify the populations distributed in East-South China Sea and the Nagasaki waters of Japan.  相似文献

Sika deer (Cervus nippon) is a cervid endemic to mainland and insular Asia and endangered. We analyzed variation in the mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) control region for four subspecies to understand the genetic diversity, population structure and evolutionary history in China. 335 bp were sequenced and eight haplotypes were identified based on 25 variable sites among the populations. Sika deer in China showed lower genetic diversity, sug- gesting a small effective population size due to habitat fragmentation, a low number of founder individuals, or the narrow breeding program. AMOVA analysis indicated that there was significant genetic subdivision among the four populations, but no correlation between the genetic and geographic distance. PhyIogenetic analyses also revealed that Chinese sika deer may be divided into three genetic clades, but the genetic structure among Chinese populations was inconsistent with subspecies designations and present geographic distribution. Including the sequence data of Japanese sika deer, the results indicated that Chinese populations were more closely related to Southern Japanese populations than to the Northern Japanese one, and the Taiwan population was closer to populations of Northeastern China and Sichuan than to those of Southern China.  相似文献

Matings between close relatives often reduce the fitness of offspring, probably because homozygosity leads to the expression of recessive deleterious alleles. Studies of several animals have shown that reproductive success is lower when genetic similarity between parents is high, and that survival and other measures of fitness increase with individual levels of genetic diversity. These studies indicate that natural selection may favour the avoidance of matings with genetically similar individuals. But constraints on social mate choice, such as a lack of alternatives, can lead to pairing with genetically similar mates. In such cases, it has been suggested that females may seek extra-pair copulations with less related males, but the evidence is weak or lacking. Here we report a strong positive relationship between the genetic similarity of social pair members and the occurrence of extra-pair paternity and maternity ('quasi-parasitism') in three species of shorebirds. We propose that extra-pair parentage may represent adaptive behavioural strategies to avoid the negative effects of pairing with a genetically similar mate.  相似文献

Evolutionary ecologists are attempting to explain how parents make behavioural decisions about how much care to provide to their young. Theory predicts that when genetic relatedness to young is decreased by cuckoldry, for example, parents should reduce their care in favour of alternative broods that provide greater reproductive success. Experimental manipulation of perceived paternity has been used to test the theory, but such studies have generated mixed results. Some manipulations can fail to alter a parent's perceived paternity, whereas others may directly affect parental behaviour when, for instance, the manipulation involves capturing the parent. No study has demonstrated parental care adjustment in a manner uncomplicated by experimental design or life history correlates. Here I test the theory using the fact that nest-tending parental male bluegill sunfish (Lepomis macrochirus) can assess their paternity using both the visual presence of parasitic cuckolder males during spawning, and olfactory cues released by newly hatched eggs. By manipulating both types of cues I show that parental males dynamically adjust their parental care, favouring broods that are apparently most closely related. These results confirm the importance of genetic relatedness in parental care decision-making.  相似文献

Mauremys mutica (Cantor, 1842) is an endangered species in China. Main phenotypic variations in body color, body weight, body shape, clutch size, egg size, and hatchling size were revealed between the southern and northern populations. Both populations have the phenomenon of "larger male" sexual size dimorphism (SSD), especially in the southern population. Furthermore, genetic variations between the two populations were analyzed by RAPD band patterns of 30 random individuals in each population. The average genetic distance was 0.299±0.108 among the samples of two populations. The average genetic distance between southern and northern populations was 0.305±0.046. Cluster analysis indicated that all the individuals from the southern and northern populations were clustered among themselves to form two distinct clades. A total of 20 population-specific RAPD fragments were scored from 16 primers, and could be used as RAPD markers for distinguishing the southern and the northern population. Based on the nucleotide sequences of two RAPD markers, two pairs of SCAR primers (SC1-S and SC2-S) were designed, which could be used as SCAR markers for the southern population. According to the significant phenotypic and genetic variations, we suggested that the northern population and southern population might be considered as two separate taxa, the "northern taxon" and the "southern taxon", and the conservation should be respectively conducted on the two taxa.  相似文献

To estimate the genetic diversity of the only captive Saiga antelope(Saiga tatarica) population in China,40 umbilical cord samples were collected and mitochondrial(control region) and nuclear(microsatellite) variabilities were assessed.Both of the markers revealed low genetic variability(or high genetic homogeneity) within the population.The microsatellites yielded monitoring ranges of 2-6 alleles.The observed heterozygosities ranged from 0.28 to 0.83,and the expected heterozygosities were between 0.27 and 0.71.The Shannon information index(Shannon I) and Polymorphic Information Content(PIC) presented overall means of 0.87 and 0.43,respectively.The gene diversity was 0.49.We found only two haplotypes in the population,and the haplotype and nucleotide diversities were 39.1% and 1.13%,respectively.Founder events,bottlenecks and inbreeding have contributed to the low genetic variation observed in this population.Our findings revealed the extent of genetic diversity maintained in the present population and the urgency of implementing a protection plan,introducing animals from other populations to enhance saiga’s genetic variation.  相似文献

The genetic diversity of three geographic populations of Phytophthora sojae from China and the United States was determined using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD). The purpose was to explore genetic relationships among Chinese and American isolates of the organism. 21 random primers were selected among 200 random primers screened. A total of 223 reproducible RAPD fragments were scored among 111 individuals, of which 199 (89.23%) were polymorphic. Analysis of genetic variation showed that there existed higher genetic variation in the United States population in comparison to the Chinese populations. Nei's genetic identity and principal component analysis indicated that the populations of Fujian and United States are closer to each other than to Heilongjiang populations. Shannon-Wiener diversity index revealed that the United States populations have a higher genetic di- versity than that of Chinese populations. These data are in support of the hypothesis that P. sojae in the United States might not have been introduced from China.  相似文献

狭边大叶藓[Rhodobryum ontariense(Kindb.)Paris]为真藓科大叶藓属植物,具有治疗心血管疾病的功效。本研究选用ISSR分子标记对分布于河北、河南、四川和陕西四省的9个狭边大叶藓自然居群的遗传多样性进行研究,目的在于揭示狭边大叶藓居群的遗传结构和遗传多样性水平,为其保护和合理开发利用提供科学依据。用8个ISSR引物对9个居群共58个样品进行扩增,共获得47条清晰的扩增位点。POPGENE分析表明,狭边大叶藓居群遗传多样性水平较低(多态性位点比率为37.75%,Nei’s基因多样性为0.153 0,Shannon’信息指数为0.222 8,遗传分化指数Gst为0.299 7,居群间的基因流为1.168 2)。AMOVA分析表明,大多数遗传变异(84.07%)存在于居群内,15.93%的遗传变异存在于居群间(Φst=0.159 3)。UPGMA聚类分析表明,狭边大叶藓居群遗传距离和地理距离没有相关性(r=0.404 95,p=0.979 1)。  相似文献

Understanding the genetic structure of human populations is of fundamental interest to medical, forensic and anthropological sciences. Advances in high-throughput genotyping technology have markedly improved our understanding of global patterns of human genetic variation and suggest the potential to use large samples to uncover variation among closely spaced populations. Here we characterize genetic variation in a sample of 3,000 European individuals genotyped at over half a million variable DNA sites in the human genome. Despite low average levels of genetic differentiation among Europeans, we find a close correspondence between genetic and geographic distances; indeed, a geographical map of Europe arises naturally as an efficient two-dimensional summary of genetic variation in Europeans. The results emphasize that when mapping the genetic basis of a disease phenotype, spurious associations can arise if genetic structure is not properly accounted for. In addition, the results are relevant to the prospects of genetic ancestry testing; an individual's DNA can be used to infer their geographic origin with surprising accuracy-often to within a few hundred kilometres.  相似文献

对重庆市特有的濒危植物缙云卫矛(EuonymuschloranthoidesYang)形态分化进行了研究.结果表明:所测量的22个营养器官性状中有8个性状的变异达显著水平,6个达极显著水平;所测量的15个生殖器官性状的变异均没达到显著水平,说明个体之间在形态上有一定程度的分化;个体水平上聚类结果表明不同种群的个体大多混聚在一起,同时也有一些大的表征群不出现某些种群的个体,说明部分种群间有一定的分化;种群水平上的聚类结果表明东温泉的2个种群与其它种群之间存在明显的形态分化,这种分化可能与它们之间的地理隔离有关.  相似文献
