The synthesis of a new type of calix[4]arene with chiral pendant

Two new chiral calixarenes were synthesized by condensing 1,3-bis-chlorocarbomethyl-calix[4] arenes with (1S, 2S)-2-amino-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1,3-propanediol, a by-product from antibiotic industry, and were characterized by¹H-NMR, MS-FAB, and elemental analysis. The¹H-NMR spectra show that those molecules assume a cone conformation in solution. The microscopic approach of sdgIBM-1 and its application to nucleus<Superscript>154</Superscript>Gd

Based on the Dyson expansion theory, a microscopic approach of sdgIBM-1 is presented and applied to nucleus¹⁵⁴Gd in this paper. The energy spectra andE2 transition have been calculated. Synthesis and characterization of new calix[4]arene amino acid ester derivatives and their metal extraction properties

A new type of calix[4]arenes containing amino acid ester derivatives has been synthesized. Their¹H NMR characteristics are discussed. Metal ion extraction experimental has shown that calix[4]arene amino acid esters (2a, 2b) possess good extraction efficiency for transition metal ions (Cu²⁺, Ni²⁺, Zn²⁺) and poor extraction efficiency for alkali metal ions (Na⁺, K⁺). A Note on the Multifractal Decomposition of Directed Graph Self Similar Sets

We investigated the directed graph self similar sets under some weak overlapping condition. We get the multifractal decomposition formulas for these sets, i. e.,dim Ku^a DimKu^a =f(a), where fis the multifractal spectral function of the directed graph self similar measure. Especially, the results improve that of Edgar and Mauldin to the case which allows certain overlapping.     

Syntheses of N-substituted dinaphtho macrocyclic compounds

The syntheses of 5 new 17-membered macrocycles containing naphthalene ring are reported. The macrocycle ring in each of these new ligands contains an O₂N₃-donor set. Structures of these new compounds were characterized by IR,¹H NMR, MS and elemental analysis. Fast cholesky factorization algorithm for s. p. d block-Toeplitz matrices

A fast Cholesky factorization algorithm based on the classical Schur algorithm for themp×mp symmetric positive definite (s. p. d) block-Toeplitz matrices is presented. The relation between the generator and the Schur complement of the matrices is explored. Besides, by applying the hyperbolic Householder transformations, we can reach an improved algorithm whose computational complexity is2p ²m³−4pm³+3/2m³+O(pm). Determination of some carbonyl carboxylic acids using chemiluminescent reaction of Ru(bipy)3 2+−Ce(IV)

A coupled chemiluminescence method for the determination of some carboxylic acids was developed, based on their enhancement the chemiluminescence light emission of the reaction of tirs (2,2′-bipyridine) ruthenium(II) and Ce(IV) in sulfuric acid medium. The conditions for their determination were optimized. The following detection limits were obtained: oxalic acid, 2.67×10⁻⁸ mol/L; propandioic acid, 1.20×10⁻⁶ mol/L; pyruvic acid, 1.35×10⁻⁸ mol/L; citric acid, 5.10×10⁻⁸ mol/L; barbituric acid, 2.48×10⁻⁷ mol/L. The proposed method was successfully applied to determination of oxalic acid. The coupled chemiluminescent reaction mechanism and rate equation are proposed. The recombinant expression vector pGEMD-fhit which contains full encoding region offhit gene was constructed. Voltammetric determination of estrogens based on the enhancement effect of surfactant at carbon paste electrode

Highly sensitive voltammetric method for the determination of estrogens, based on the enhancement effect of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) has been described. In the presence of CTAB, the oxidation peak currents of estrogens (estradiol, estrone, estriol, estradiol valerate and diethylstilbestrol) as the carbon paste electrode (CPE) increased significantly after open-circuit accumulation. The peak current was proportional to the concentration of estradiol over the range from 5×10⁻⁹ to 2.5×10⁻⁶ mol·L⁻¹. The detection limit was 8×10⁻¹⁰ mol·L⁻¹ at 6 min of accumulation. The total amounts of estrogens in the blood serums were determined and the average recovery was 104.92%. Under the conditions used, the electrode process of estradiol was examined the mechanism for peak current enhancement was also discussed. Measurement of trace lead (II) in water samples with biomacromolecule heparin modified electrode

A new method for electrode modification and accumulation with a biomacromolecule and subsequent voltammetric quantittion of metal ions is described. Heparin is used as the surface modifier, and the method is based on formation of the heparin complex of lead (II). The voltammetric responses were evaluated with respect to electrolyte, pH, preconcentration time, and lead concentration. The electrode composition, voltammetric wave form and other variables have also been taken into account. A detection limit of 3.0×10⁻⁹ mol/L has been obtained by preconcentration for 20 min. The method is sensitive, simple and relatively rapid, with a relative standard deviation of 5.2% at the 1.0×10⁻⁷ mol/L level. Laser cooling using anti-stokes fluorescence in Yb3+-doped fluorozirconate glasses

The fluorozirconate glasses ZBLANP (ZrF₄−BaF₂−LaF₃−NaF−PbF₂) doped with different Yb³⁺ concentration were prepared. The Raman spectra and absorption spectra are measured to substantiate the existence of phonon-assisted emission. After analyzing the normalized absorption spectra of samples with different Yb³⁺-doped concentration, we calculated the maximum cooling effect in the 3 wt% Yb³⁺-doped sample pumped at 1 012.5 nm. The corresponding cooling capability is about −4.09 °C/W and the cooling efficiency reaches 1.76%. Chemiluminescence determination of tetracycline and oxytetracycline in pharmaceutical preparations using Ru (bipy)3 2+-cerium (IV) system

A new chemiluminescence (CL) method for the determination of tetracycline and oxytetracycline is developed, based on the CL reaction of tetracycline and oxytetracycline with Ru (bipy)₃ ²⁺ and Ce (IV). In sulfuric acid medium, the CL emission is generated upon continuous oxidtion of Ru(bipy)₃ ²⁺ by cerium (IV). The emission intensity is greatly enhanced when tetracycline and oxytetracycline are introduced into the reaction system after acid degradation. Under the optimum conditions, the calibration curves are linear over the range of 8.0×10⁻⁸∼4.0×10⁻⁶ mol/L for tetracycline and of 2.0×10⁻⁷∼4.0×10⁻⁵ mol/L for oxytetracycline, with the detection limits are 4.2×10⁻⁸ mol/L for tetracycline and 1.5×10⁻⁷ mol/L for oxytetracycline, respectively. The proposed method was used for the determination of tetracycline and oxytetracycline in pharmaceutical formulations with good results. Compression behavior and equation of state of Ni77P23 amorphous alloy

The compression behavior of Ni77P23 amorphous alloy is investigated at room temperature in a diamond-anvil cell instrument using insitu high pressure energy dispersive X-ray diffraction with a syn- chrotron radiation source. The equation of state is determined by fitting the experimental data accord- ing to Birch-Murnaghan equation: -ΔV/V0=0.08606P-3.2×10-4P2 5.7×10-6P3. It is found that the structure of Ni77P23 amorphous alloy is stable under pressures up to 30.5 GPa.

Determination of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparation and biological fluid by Rayleigh light scattering technique

A highly sensitive and simple Rayleigh light scattering (RLS) method for determination of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride has been developed. Ciprofloxacin hydrochloride (CPFH) reacted with tetraphenylboron sodium(TPB) to form an ion-association complex in pH 5.31 aqueous solution, which resulted in a significant enhancement of the RLS intensity, which was linear with the concentration of CPFH in the range of 12.7–419 ng·mL⁻¹. The limit of detection for CPFH was 6.99 ng·mL⁻¹. The method is simple, highly sensitive and selective within a wide linear range. Appliying this method to determination of ciprofloxacin hydrochloride in pharmaceutical preparations and biological fluids obtained satisfactory results. On the Family of Thue Equation ｜x^3 ＋ mx^2y-（ m ＋ 3）xy^2 ＋ y^3｜= k

The family of cubic Thue equation which depend on two parameters ｜ x^3 ＋ mx^2 y-（m＋3） xy^2＋y^3｜=k is studied. Using rational approximation, we give a smaller upper bound of the solution of the equation, that is quite better than the present result. Moreover, we study two inequalities ｜ x^3 ＋ mx^2y-（m ＋ 3） xy^2＋y^3 ｜ =k≤2m＋3 and ｜x^3 ＋mx^2y- （m＋3）xy^2 ＋ y^3｜ = k≤ （2m＋3）^2 separately. Our result of upper bound make it easy to solve those inequalities by simple method of continuous fraction expansion.     

Studies on the interaction of DNA and Ru (1,10-phenanthroline)2− (dipyrido[3,2−a:2′,3′−c]phenazine)2+

The interaction of Ru(phen)₂(dppz)²⁺(phen=1,10-phenanthroline,dppz=dipyrido[3,2−1:2′,3′−c]phenazine) and the calfthymus DNA were studied with fluorescence and ultraviolet visible absorption spectroscopy. The ultraviolet visible absorption spectrum of Ru(phen)₂(dppz)²⁺ calfthymus DNA, and their interaction demonstrated that Ru(phen)₂(dppz)²⁺ intercalated into the double helix of DNA via the ligand dppz. Fe(CN)₆ ⁴⁻ and NaCl can not quench the fluorescence of Ru(phen)₂(dppz)²⁺-DNA, which was in agreement with the intercalation mode.
