Dialectical Analysis of Double Effect of Confucian's Viewpoint of Friendship and Profit on Market Economy

Deeply rooted in the feudal politics and economic system, Confucian's ethic conceptions such as valuing justice above material gains, loving generous deeds and looking lightly upon money as well as finding contentment in poverty and focusing on agriculture while restraining commerce are contrary to the essence of market economy. Dialectical analytic attitudes towards them should be adopted, by rejecting the dross and assimilating the essence, its essence should be discovered and expanded. Confucians lay great emphasis on friendship, society, individual's moral construction and economic moral consciousness, all will help counterbalance the negative effect and play an important role in promoting the development of socialist market economy.
