A Study of Language Variation from Memetic Perspective

Memetics provides a new approach to understand the heritage of culture in a broad sense of Darwinian evolution, which analyzes the analogy of genes and memes in terms of replication, transmission and even variation. As one of the means of cultural transmission, language experiences natural selection in its progress and variation. This article takes into consideration the variation of internet language, and attempts to probe these variations in memetic perspective.
