| Abstract: | The chemical constituents of the petroleum ether extract of the methanol extract of Cyperus rotundus L. were studied by the chromatographic techniques such as silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20, and HPLC, which led to the isolation of 15 compounds including 10 sesquiterpenes(1～10) and 5 sterols(11～15). On the basis of the NMR spectral data, the compounds were identified as isonardoeudesmol C(1),(+)-nootkatone(2), teutenone A(3), ishwarol B(4),β-dictyopterol(5),1R,3R,6S,7R,10S-7-Isopropyl-4,10-dimethylbicyclo 4.4.0] dec-4-en-3,10-diol(6), isonardoeudesmol B(7), l β-hydroxy-α-cyperone(8),1β,4β-dihydroxyeudesman-11-ene(9), chrysanthemumin C(10),5α-stigmast-9(11)-en-3β-ol(11), β-Sitosterol(12),β-Sitosterol-D-glycoside(13),desmosterol(14), and Stigmasterol(15). Compound 4 and 6 were isolated from the genus Cyperus for the first time. |
