通过对汉英成语的比较、分析说明中西文化及地理历史条件的不同,在成语形成方面有很大区别,但作为人类的语言在很多方面又是相通的。他们具有相同结构、相同喻义、相同修辞。尽管有不同喻体形象、不同修辞方式,但是经过形象保留、形象移植、形象转换、形象舍弃、形象增添、形象注释等处理手段,汉语成语的翻译是能够做到的。

It is held, through the comparison with exemplifications between the Chinese idioms and English idioms, that although there exist differences in the Chinese and western cultures and in the geological and historical backgrounds, and in the formation of the idioms, the languages in different communities can be understood in many aspects. Some of them share the some structures, the same figurative senses, and the same rhetoric meanings. While there are different figurative subjects, images and rhetoric methods, the translation of the Chinese idioms into English is very likely to be arrived at if they are handled carefully though the reservation, transplantation, transformation, omission, addition of images, and making notes.
