清代三个时段钦天监所观测的流星记录研究

ON METEOR RECORDS OF 1662-1721, 1736-1795 AND 1796-1807 OBSERVED IN BEIJING

Ancient Chinese observed the celestial phenomena including eclipses , comets , supernova , metoer showers and meteors based on astrological cosmology . This paper concerns meteor records of the Qing Dynasty observed in Beijing to know the activity of meteor streams in this period. A method to transform the records to modern calculable results is giv- en and 580 results are obtained. Six meteor streams , namely , Perseids , Taurids , Leonids , Geminids , Ursids and Quadratids , are studied emphatically. The former three were active and the latter three were not. With regard to the Persids and Leonids in 1736-1795 , it is found that the Perseids meteors are small in size and red in color and not observed near full- moon , and the Leonids meteors are both small and large in size and red as well as white in color which means new material continue to be produced in the Leonids. Four new meteor showers in Beijing are also reported , which occurred on Dec . 5 and 6 , 1798, Feb. 23 , 1799 and Sept. 10 , 1800 respectively.
