符号系统两大特性及其在跨文化交际中的意义

符号系统由于其社会约定性而具有很强的稳定性,但稳定性又是相对的;由于每个系统的形成有一定的规则,这些规则管理制约着每一个系统并使此系统区别于彼系统,因此,同层次的符号系统又具有排斥性。符号系统的这两大特性在跨文化交际中的意义:符号系统的相对稳定性使我们可以对符号系统进行调整,使交流双方共享的信息达到可辨识的数量,以促进跨文化交际的顺利进行;由于排斥性的存在,在调整符号系统时必须注意度的把握。

Two Features of Semiotic System and Their Functions in Intercultural Communication

A semiotic system is stable because of social conventions; however, its stability is relative. Since there are rules in forming a semiotic system which not only manages and restricts the system but also makes it different from other systems. Each semiotic system of the same level has the characteristics of exclusion. The two characteristics of semiotic system have great influence on intercultural communication. In order to communicate smoothly, adjustments can be made on semiotic system to cater to the beth sides involved in communication due to the relative stability of semiotic system. Because of exclusion, the rule of semiotic system must be followed and the degree of adjustment must be appropriate.
