| Abstract: | Focal electrical stimulation of the midlateral posterior hypothalamus in the rat produces rapid shallow respiration accompanied by a rise in arterial blood pressure. Stimulation of presumably intrinsic neurons only by glutamate induces slower deeper respiration associated with a fall in blood pressure. |
