汉语性别语言英译研究

语言是文化的现实再现,语言作为特定社会意识形态的反映,不仅承载、传播、传承文化,同时也潜移默化地引导与建构一种能被广泛认知的大众文化或精英文化。语言性别歧视现象是社会定型意识的反映。翻译作为目的语再表达和文化信息传递的主要手段,对此类语言的翻译研究需要给出明确而令人信服的解答。讨论了汉语在英译时语言性别歧视问题,揭示了汉语中女性语言不同于男性语言的个性特征及其成因,并结合汉语中性别语言的特点和实例探讨了汉语性别语言英译时文化差异的演变和具体翻译途径的选择方法。

Gender Consideration in Chinese to English Translation

Language is the reflection of its real culture as a certain social ideology. It guides and constructs the wide-known and commonly-accepted mass culture and elite culture with the functions like carrier, spreader and inheritor. Gender language is the reflection of long-term social fixed ideas. Translation, as the main form in recreating the source language and transforming alien culture, has to offer a clear and persuasive solution to the language of this kind. In order to analyze the reasons and its special features in gender language, some specific examples and assumed features of gender language are discussed in the paper to find out the changing process of culture differences between Chinese and English and better ways are proposed in translating gender-featured Chinese into proper English.
