Abstract:This paper gives gear noise reduction curves on the basis of experiments with four gear structures and various damping materials like rubber and cork,for three rotational speeds of 700, 1000,1030r/min.The experimental results show that the characteristic of noise of cast iron hub is better then that of the all steel gear;when a highly damping material is used for part of the gear,the noise obviously decreases.One of the curves shows that the largest amount of gear noise reduction can reach 7 dB(A).The five materials and gear structures proposed in the paper are practical.
