现代英语主位化初探

本文用系统功能语言学理探讨了现代英语主位化的规律。在区分主语与主位两个概念基础上,本文将主位化定义为述位某部分向主位位置的移动以获得某种特定的语义意图。通过对主位结构中主位化规律的研究,我们发现基础生成句与其对应的主位化句子的语气结构有多种变化,从而得出结论:在现代英语中,主位化是完成说话者交际意图的积极方式。

THEMATIZATION IN MODERN ENGLISH

The present paper studies thematization in modern English in terms of systemic-functional grammar. On the basis of distinguishing the two confusing terms subject and theme, we define thematization as a process of moving some part of theme to the theme position of a clause so as to achieve certain semantic intents. By studying the process of thematization in thematic structure, the writer finds the various changes of mood structures between the base-generated theme clauses and their corresponding thematized clauses. In the conclusion the writer puts forward that thematization in modern English is, in reference to the deviation theory and modern psychology, an active device to fulfil a speaker's communicative intent.
