摘 要: | 1. INTRODUCTIOnThe lack of geometric symwtry b~en an object and its mirror image is referred to as chirality or handedness(in optical literature it is called optical activity 1]). A chiral medium produces different responses to left- andright-circularly polarized light. Since the phenomenon of chirality was known earlier at the molecular level, thechirality study has been of illterest especially in the fields of chemistry and biochemistry 2]. In recent decades, ithajs become of increasin…

Abstract: | In this paper, the scattering amplitude functions of a spatially-oriented chiral spheroid are derived. Po larization scattering from a layer of randomly distributed chiral spheroids in the Mueller matrix solution is obtained. Co-polarized and de-polarized backscattering and polarization degree for any polarized incidence are numerically calculated. Transmissions of coherent waves with four Stokes parameters through the layer are also discussed. Comparisons of polarization scattering from the chiral and achiral particulate media demonstrate the chirality effect on wave scattering and transmission. |
