硬盘动态电源管理的实现方法

摘    要:越来越多的嵌入式设备系统利用电池供电,而电池容量有限,故有必要通过电源管理来降低功耗,从而延长系统的可持续使用时间。硬盘在嵌入式系统特别是移动设备如笔记本电脑等的能耗中占据了相当大的比重,通过对硬盘进行电源管理能够显著地降低系统能耗。论文介绍了硬盘动态电源管理(DPM)的设计与实现,包括硬盘状态的转换,负载获取以及的策略优化算法的设计与实现,并在具体硬盘上进行了实验,实现了基于不同DPM策略优化算法的动态电源管理。实验的结果与预期结果相符合,达到了节省硬盘能耗的目的,由此证明了该论文所介绍的硬盘动态电源管理实现过程的可行性。

Abstract:Along with the wider use of battery-powered equipment in embedded systems, due to the low capacity of battery, power management is essential to reduce power consumption, and thus extend the sustainable use span. In embedded systems, especially mobile devices (e.g. laptops), hard disk consumes a large proportion of power. The paper introduces a design and implementation of dynamic power management (DPM) on hard disk, including the conversion of hard disk states, load acquisition, a design and implementation of policy optimization algorithms, and finally an experiment is performed on a specific hard disk, implementing dynamic power management based on different DPM policy optimization algorithms. The results are consistent with the expectations, and achieve the purpose of saving energy-consumption on hard disk, which as a result proves the feasibility of the dynamic power management implementation introduced in the paper.
