| Abstract: | Language is the product of human cognitive activities. So the choice of sentence subject is, to a large extent, the mirror of the characteristics of human thinking and cognitive strategies. Resting on the cognitive theory, the present paper probes into the characteristics of English sentences with inanimate subjects, and discusses the choice of inanimate subjects in Chinese-English translation. |
