Abstract:For environmental planning and management in river watershed,one-dimensional mass transport model is often used. In this paper a simple and appropriate model (cells-in-series model) is introduced. This model requires the knowledge of parameters which are related to the physical characteristics of the river to be modeled. The number of cells k and time constant a were found by using the data of dye tracing experiments in Shaxi Creek, Min River Watershed. Subsequently, the variation of mass concentrations with time of each cell of the river were predicted. The predicted values of mass concentration are in agreement with the measured data.
