| Abstract: | In this paper we describe a method of simultaneously measuring the elastic constant K1(or K3)and shear biscosity by means of the Fredericks transition in a mag- netic field as well as anisotropic optical properties of liquid crystals,and illustrate it with the results obtained in both MBBA and 6CB liquid crystals.We also dicuss some related problems. |
