| 摘 要： | 美国作家西奥多.德莱塞的代表作《嘉莉妹妹》讲述了一位农村女孩到大城市谋生最后成为名演员的故事。象征意象的大量运用是文本一个显著的写作特色,尤其是对摇椅这一象征意象的成功处理。分析文本中摇椅的象征意义:命运无常;良心与无尽欲望的抗争;生命的潮涨潮落,可以发现,在以金钱为中心的美国资本主义社会里嘉莉不可能找到真正的幸福。
