| Abstract: | In this paper,a review of the chemistry of retardation of combustion for organic polymeric materials is made with 23 references,,The review includes mainly the briefly historical development; the semi-quantitative criterion of polymer flammability,the limiting oxygen index; the mechanism of burning process and theories of flame retardancy;the mechanism of the action of halogenated flame retardants, autimony-halogen flame retar-dants and phosphorus flame retadants; the future tendency. |
