Abstract:In this paper the sensible and latent heat transfer fluxes (SLHTF) are computed by ushag the data from 72 stations for the summer months of 1980 and 1985 which are selected as typical flood and drought summers in the Yangtze River Valley (TRV). The results are as follows: 1 The characteristrics of sensible and latent heat transfer(SLHT) over china are different, between the summers of 1980 and 1985. The distrubutions of SLHT matched well with the distributions of the rainfall and the characteristics of the precipitations in the summer months. The distributions of SLHT were related intimately to the subtropical Pacific High and the west current of westly belt. 2 In the summer of 1980, the values of SLHT were large. The meridional SLHT were strong and the eddied SLHT were mainly from southern china toe northern China. On the 850hpa, the convergence of SLHT in the region between YRV and Huai River Valley and the divergence of SLHT in the southern china were evident. 3 In the summer of 1985, the values of SLHT were much smaller thatn that in 1980. The directions of the eddied fluxes of SLHT were not in order. On the 850hpa, YRV was in the divergence or weak convergence of SLHT.
