Effects of the Stacking Spacing of Fruit Boxes on Air Distribution in the Stacking Area

Abstract:Cold storage is the main equipment of modern cold storage. The different stacking methods of fruit boxes in the cold storage will affect the air distribution in the stacking area and the temperature field, which directly affect the storage of fruits and vegetables. In order to explore the law of the temperature change in the stacking area built by the fruit boxes in the cold storage under different horizontal spacing. The temperature of the inlet section and outlet section and the middle section of gap between the fruit boxes in seven working conditions with spacing of 0 cm, 1 cm, 2 cm, 3 cm, 4 cm, 5 cm, 6 cm were measured and studied by doing experiments. The results show that when the horizontal spacing between the fruit boxes is 1cm to 4cm, the temperature field between the fruit boxes is evenly distributed and have a good heat exchange effect. When the distance continues to be expended after more than 4 cm, the heat transfer effect of the overall air flow field is not affected. When the spacing is 2 cm, the precooling effect of apples is better, and then continue to increase the spacing has little effect on the precooling effect of apples. It is concluded that the horizontal spacing of fruit boxes of 1 cm to 4 cm is a suitable stacking spacing for fruit boxes in cold storage.
