Cumulant-Neglect Closure Techniques for Analysing Random Seismic Response of a Soil-Hysteretic Structure Interaction System

In this paper the stationary response of a soil-hysteretic SDOF structure interaction system subjected to stationary random seismic excitation is ana-lysed. On the basis of energy-equivalence principle, the hysteretic structure considered is converted into a combination of a damping dissipation part and a nonlinear elastic structure. By means of the Cumulant-Neglect Closure Techniques a set of nonlinear algebraic equations can be obtained and then solved by using Modified Newton method. The numerical results of higher order statistical moments computed by the proposed method are compared with those calculated by Monte Carlo method, It is shown that the numerical results of the present method is so accurate that it can be used for analysing practical engineering problems.
