| Abstract: | This essay critically examines domesticating and foreignizing approaches to translation from three perspectives: reasoning,methodology and Venuti's criticism of Nida's theory.It also reconsiders Chinese scholars' conflicting viewpoints on the approaches and contends that fruitful studies must be based on the reality of translation in contemporary China. |
