Hong Sheng' s The Immortal Hall and Kong Shangren' s A Peach Blossom Fan were two excellent plays and they brought about a great influence on the society in the early period of the Qing Dynasty. But disasters came upon these two playwrights in only ten years altogether. In my opinion, the two works showed striking similarities in their contents, motivations, and the effect of performance etc, which touched the taboo of the Qing Dynasty, and hence came the disasters.
