In the light of the two books compiled and written by Mr.Li Chengwai, this essay expounds and proves, by listing a host of facts, that "the Ideology-remoulding School" is "a man-made purgatory", and that "the wound towards both the Chinese Culture and intellectuals is extremely great." Meanwhile,it analyzes fairly profoundly the cultural and psychological state of "the intellectuals of the Xiangyang Lake" during and after the calamity.
