The Modern Science and the Social Crises——Simone Weil's Reflctions on the Modern Science

Simone Weil explores the radical transformation of the science around the turn of the Renaissance and it's implication for the modern society.From Weil's point of view,the modern science deviates from the immediate experience gradually and takes the form of algebra.The transformation leads to the monopoly of the knowledge by a handful of experts and its unite with the power,and almost all kinds of social and cultural crises.Weil takes the return to the ancient Greek science as the key to solve the social problems,and favors the geometry as the ideal of the return,because in her eyes the geometry symbolizes the union of abstract concepts and concrete experiences,enables the individual autonomy and implies the contemplation of the world.
