Abstract:In this paper a new method of reducing the motion equation is presented. The relation between this method and the reduction techniques of eigenproblem is proved. Furthermore, the rule for choosing primary and secondary degrees of freedom is provided. The results of some numerical examples show that a satisfactory precision is achieved and computer time consumed is evidently saved. The method presented can be used effectively in dynamic analysis of highrise buildings and space frames.
