The Research on Apprenticeship in the Educational Program of Model Design and Manufacture Major

This article discusses the important role and implications of apprenticeship in the curriculum design for students under the major of Model Design and Manufacture. It points out that apprenticeship in factories will help students acquire deep knowledge in the model production procedures in real factories and encourage students＇ active learning. The suggested reform of curriculum will greatly increase students＇ social and learning abilities and, therefore, enhance their competitive edges in the job market. This article also introduces several remarks about the practical problems in current apprenticeship programs, including the unstable conditions of the factories that offer apprentice positions and the insufficient participation of instructors in the programs. To solve the questions, it is suggested further investigation into the students＇ learning process and environment.
