Relationship of Helicobacter Pylori Infection with Peptic Ulcers and Dyspeptic Symptom

Bacterial culture,histological examination,rapid urease test, and PCR are used to detect Helicobacter Pylori (HP) in biospy speciments from372 patients with upper gastrointestinal disorder. The patients of positive results tested by more than two methds are considered as HP infection positive.The results indicate that the presence of HP organisms was detected in 76.6% of patients with only gastritis, 95. 4% of those with peptic ulcers,and 100% of those with gastric carinoma. These imply that the presence of HP was strongly associated with chronic gastritis and peptic ulcers. HP colonized in gastric mucous by its spcific flagella and high urease activity.It might cause the degeneration and death of epithelial cells by releasing cytotoxin and producing ammonia to cells,and finally resulted in inflammation. It is important to prevent from peptic ulcers and gastric carcinoma by controling the prevalence and the spread of HP and eradicating HP infection in the stomach.
