光纤陀螺中双折射调制噪声的实验观察与理论分析

摘    要:本文对光纤陀螺中双折射调制噪声的性质进行了研究.在采用高双折射光纤的陀螺系统中,实验观察发现,双折射调制噪声对系统长期性能影响很大,特别在光纤环中偏振方位控制不理想的情况下,将使系统的长期零漂增大.此外,在信号检测频率处,发现双折射调制产生的噪声与Sagnac信号有确定的π/2相位差.本文建立在Jones表述基础上的理论分析,为解释和消除此噪声对系统性能的影响提供了依据,给出了与实验完全一致的结果.最后,根据这些结果,对消除双折射调制噪声对系统性能影响的方法进行了讨论.

Abstract:The noise due to the birefringence modulation of a nonideal phase modulator in a fiber-optic gyroscope is investigated. It is found that this noise contributes largely to long term bias drift of the system, and that the phase of this noise has a definite π/2 relation with that of the rotation signal. Theoretical analysis based on the Jones Matrix representation coincides quite well with the experimental results. Measures to reduce the birefringence modulation noise are discussed.
