Abstract:Summary Dim light, in combination with high water temperature, resulted in a significant increase in the retinyl ester hydrolase activity in the goldfish retina. This rise in enzyme activity may relate to a selective increase in the availability of retinal chromophores thereby favoring the formation of rhodopsin under these light and temperature conditions.
