The Battle of Shouzhou,between Later Zhou Dynasty and Southern Tang Dynasty from the second year to the fourth year of Later Zhou Emperor Xiande's reign,plays a key role in the Later Zhou's wars of unification in the late Five Dynasties.This article analyses the cause and process of the battle,the reasons for the victory and defeat,and its historic position.The writer believes that this battle weakened Southern Tang to further harass Later Zhou's southern border and strengthened Later Zhou and even laid the foundation for future North Song Dynasty to terminate the state of disunity of the Five Dynasties period.
