袁复礼对中国地质科学发展的贡献

袁复礼教授 (1893-1987), 中国著名的地质、地理和考古学家。早年留学美国，回国后长期任清华大学教授兼地学系系主任，其间参加了著名的中瑞西北科学考察，在考察中发现大量动物和植物化石，尤其在新疆发现二齿兽和水龙兽等冈瓦纳大陆大型爬行动物化石，贡献卓著。他毕生从事地质调查和地质教育事业，笔者从其参与创建中国地质学会、西北科学考察、清华大学任教、考古发掘、第四纪地质与地貌学研究、矿产资源调查等方面阐述袁复礼对中国地质科学发展的贡献。

Significance in Development of China Geosciencesby Yuan Fu-li

Professor Yuan Fuli (1893-1987), a famous geologist, geographist and archaeologist of China, learned in USA in early 1900’s. He was the director of the department of Geosciences of Tsinghua University from 1933 to 1952. He participated and organized Sino Swedish Scientific Expedition in the Northwestern Provinces of China and discovered plenty of animal and plant fossils during the field inverstigations, particularly in discovering Dicynodon sp. and Lystrosaurus sp. in Xingjiang Autonomous Rigion, by means of which possess with significance in development of geosciences in China. The author is a stundent of him in Tsinghua University. In this paper , the author will deal with his achievements from establishing Geological Society of China, participating Scientific Expedition in the Northwest China, researching Quaternary Geology and Geomorphology etc.
