| Abstract: | The Mill on the Floss is one of the masterpieces written by George Eliot.This essay tries to reinterpret this novel in the view of Archetypal Criticism and find out the latent meaning.By the analysis of the image of water,it manifests the mental life of the heroine Maggie in order to uncover the dilemma of women in society governed by male culture and impossibility of realizing their ambition. |
