Abstract: | Summary Arylsulfatase activities in biological materials are too low to be detected by the methods available hitherto. A sensitive and specific assay method for arylsulfatase A (AS-A) has been developed in the present study. Ascorbate-2-sulfate is known to be a specific natural substrate of AS-A; the ascorbic acid liberated by the action of AS-A was quantitatively determined using HPLC equipped with an amperometric detector. The method was used to analyze the activity of AS-A in biological materials. |
