| 摘 要： | 由于社会文化的差异，翻译中译出语和译入语在意义与功能方面能同时做到对等的情况极为少见，英汉翻译的可译性是有限度的，是相对的。本文以社会符号学为理论基础，主要从指称意义、言内意义和语用意义三个方面阐述了英汉翻译存在的不可译现象及其产生的原因。翻译中应尽最大努力保证上下文理最重要或最突出的意义的准确传译，尽量做到译文与原文意义相符，功能相似。

| Abstract: | Based on social semiotics,the article probes into untranslatable phenomena existing in the translation between English and Chinese from three aspects: designative meaning,linguistic meaning and pragmatic meaning.It explains the reasons that cause the phenomena and discusses how to solve the problem during the traslation. |
