有感于几个术语的定名与应用

回顾了晚清时期严复翻译一些英文词语的经历,指出他创造的译名未流传下来的原因在于:当时报纸、杂志、教科书及词典中充斥着大量从日语转译过来的词语。然后结合翻译实践,分析了一些译名在当今社会能流行的原因。并提出,术语规范化有赖于各相关部门的通力合作。

On the Translation and Applicability of Some Terms

This paper traces back to Yan Fu's experience in the Late Qing when he translated English words into Chinese. We think that due to the terms translated from Japanese were abundant in newspapers, journals, textbooks and dictionaries at that time, words coined by Yan Fu did not come into being. Based on the author's own translation practice, we analyze the reason why some translated terms may survive nowadays. Moreover, we think that the standardization of terminology depends on the joint efforts of all the departments concerned.
