构建富有文化感、艺术感与生活感的整体性文化空间，提升文化竞争力，是三坊七巷历史街区可持续保护的关键所在。通过对三坊七巷文化空间的实地调研与考察，发现其文化空间的构建面临着重构文化空间与现代商业文化的冲突、文化附着物的消解、文化空间的“文化空心化”、游客居民满意度不高等问题。三坊七巷的改造应该本着建构完整文化空间模式的理念，让历史文化积淀在实体空间中，为游人营造“真实”可感的文化感知，从而提升其文化竞争力。
